The law firms of meyerlustenberger, Zurich, and Lachenal & Le Fort, Geneva, have joined forces and resources by merging their offices in Zurich, Geneva, Zug, Lausanne and Brussels to form Meyerlustenberger Lachenal. The new firm has 85 lawyers and ranks as one of the largest law firms in Switzerland. 

The rationale behind the merger is to form a law firm with a strong presence in the two major economic centers of Switzerland that is capable of providing national and international clientele with nationwide support for all their business related legal needs. The new firm with its significant number of experienced professionals will be in a position to further strengthen its areas of competence. "We are convinced that our specialized teams in Zurich and Geneva will be an attractive proposition for demanding clients. Our offices in the smaller but dynamic Swiss cities will also greatly benefit from these resources," says Bernard Lachenal.

Meyerlustenberger Lachenal will be managed by an executive board of four, two from each firm, with the support of full-time managers in Zurich and in Geneva. "Clients want our lawyers to be specialized and to have a profound understanding of their business and the legal issues related to it. It is the board's top priority to organize the practice teams in order to take advantage of the firm's enlarged knowledge pool, "says Thomas Lustenberger. To meet clients' expectations the board will use this enlarged pool to form new competence centers and to strengthen existing practice teams.

The board has also tackled the task of establishing firm-wide quality control systems. An in-house educational program involving all locations has been in place for almost one year and will be further refined over the coming months. The firm is determined to shape its two organizations in a way that ensures they act and appear as one firm. The efficiency by which the process to establish the new firm's corporate identity has been handled makes the board very confident that a cohesive corporate culture can be established quickly.

Meyerlustenberger Lachenal is one of the few Swiss law firms with an office in Brussels. The Brussels office primarily supports clients with their needs as related to EU regulations. It also provides them with an access to European institutions such as the Court of Justice. 

Attorneys Philippe Prost and Nicolas Didisheim have also joined the new firm. They were formerly partners with meyerlustenberger’s associated office in Geneva.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Simon Holzer has become a partner in our law firm. 

Simon Holzer is a member of meyerlustenberger's intellectual property team and chairs its patent and life science section.
